Preble County United Way Campaign Results
At last week’s general campaign wrap up, the Greater
Dayton Area announced that the United Way campaign fell short of
its overall goal by $500,000. The Preble County portion of the
campaign also fell short slightly of the $180,000 goal set
earlier this summer. Staff and volunteers in Preble County
anticipate reaching $178,345 or 99% of goal by year’s end.
Given the situation volunteers found in many industries and
businesses; downsizing, mergers and companies that had been sold,
United Way staff and volunteers believe the campaign results are
really good. The economic factors mirror other counties in our
area as well.
Company chairpersons worked hard to reach results close to, and
some over, last year’s results. Special events; sale of
items; mud volleyball, 5-K race, antique auto show, pies in the
face, home cooked meals, and other fund raising activities were
used, in addition to the general ask from employee groups, to
raise as many dollars as possible.
Barb Bradley, Director, United Way Preble County, thanks Campaign
Chairman Paul Stoffregan, and all of the campaign volunteers for
their hard work. "Without our volunteers and donors, we
could not help the residents of Preble County. Their support is
invaluable," said, Bradley.
Stoffregan noted his satisfaction that everything possible had
been done to reach goal. The next step will include notifying
agencies. This will happen later in the year with the hopes that
more dollars will be forthcoming to prevent cutting necessary
programs and services.
The annual campaign is the most efficient way to help people who
