HelpLink is the new name for comprehensive information and referral services for the Miami Valley. Gone is the old "Information and Referral" or "I&R", which was not a name, but a function. Soon the old familiar logo will be replaced as we shed our old identity and take on the new.
, we arent waiting for a new logo to announce the change. Starting immediately HelpLink staff will be using the name when we answer the 225-3000 or 1-800-91REACH telephone number. Dont hang up when you hear the new name! Behind the new name is the tried and true, dependable service youve come to rely on.
new name launches our campaign to introduce a new and improved "I&R" for the community. Dedicated community volunteers and staff have worked diligently for two years to position HelpLink to be a state-of-the-art information and referral service. Part of that vision is to increase the visibility of information and referral, which our new name will help us achieve. HelpLink will also be working on ways to minimize duplication of information services and maximize the value of one, single, comprehensive resource of health, human and government services which can be used by more people in more ways.
ng with increased visibility, volunteers hope to increase community support for HelpLink, the comprehensive information and referral service for the Miami Valley. HelpLink has a new volunteer Executive Board and a new relationship with United Way of the Greater Dayton Area. The Executive Board will be guiding HelpLink in new directions to be more responsive to the communitys need for human service information because those needs are changing. United Way funding, which has been the sole source of support for comprehensive information and referral, is no longer adequate to meet the changing needs. So, the Board will also be working to build a broader base of community support for HelpLink services.
